Anxiety and stress are an increasingly common problem for people in our busy, modern world. These states of mind prevent us from experiencing peace and enjoying life.

Meditation is an effective way to combat negative states of mind and create a sense of mental freedom. By gaining experience of Buddhist meditation techniques and positive thinking we can learn to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us. By learning to accept painful feelings rather than being panicked by them we can keep a calm and happy mind in all situations.

• How to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety in daily life
• The causes of these unpeaceful minds and how to overcome them
• Special ways of thinking to help us stay calm in any situation
• Simple meditations to make our mind peaceful
• Our potential to combat stress and anxiety and enjoy mental freedom

Everybody is welcome to attend this course, regardless of experience. The day will consist of practical teachings that are specifically related to the topic of Overcoming Stress and Anxiety. The course will also include short guided meditations that will give rise to a peaceful feeling in the mind and improve our ability to solve our daily problems effectively. In the last session of the day there will also be an opportunity for questions and answers.

The Teacher
The teacher of this class is Kelsang Monlam, a Buddhist nun from Mahasiddha Kadampa Meditation Centre in Sydney. With 10 years’ experience practising Buddhism, Monlam is well-loved for the depth of her wisdom and purity of her practice.
