Mahasiddha Kadampa Meditation Centre

Mahasiddha Kadampa Meditation Centre is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to create peace and harmony within our world. Our Surry Hills Temple provides a comfortable and relaxed environment in which people can discover the benefits of meditation and modern Buddhism for themselves. Everybody is welcome!

Our Story

Mahasiddha Kadampa Meditation Centre was established in March 2001 and is now located in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. We hold weekly drop-in meditation classes and monthly day courses at the centre which are suitable for beginners, as well as in-depth study programs for people who want to deepen their understanding of Buddha’s teachings.

Mahasiddha KMC is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, a global network of over one thousand centres & groups around the world.

Our Resident Teacher

Kelsang Lhachog is the Resident Teacher at Mahasiddha KMC. She is an Australian Buddhist nun who has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years.

Lhachog is an inspiring example of Modern Buddhism in practice. She presents Buddha’s teachings with beautiful clarity, warmth and sincerity, skilfully guiding people from all walks of life to find inner peace and lasting happiness.

Volunteering at the Centre

Mahasiddha KMC is dedicated to bringing inner peace and happiness to the people of Sydney and beyond. To fulfil this aim our Centre relies entirely upon volunteers – from those who drop in to the Centre to help out on occasion through to our dedicated managers and teachers.

If you have the wish to help out in any way please let us know! You don’t need to have any particular skills or make any regular commitment. Our volunteers are from all walks of life and help us with a vast range of tasks. Any help is welcome!

Fundraising

All of our Centre’s activities depend upon the kindness of our community. Every Kadampa Centre is completely run by volunteers and it is through the generous support of the community – by volunteering and making financial contributions – that we are able to offer classes and courses throughout Sydney. If you wish to make a one-time or recurring donation to the Centre’s activities, you can do so at any time. All donations are tax deductable and every donation regardless of size, is a significant contribution!
