Overcoming Stress & Anxiety

Sun 10 Jul | 10am-1pm

In-Person & Online Workshop

If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind
they would not be problems for us,
- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Workshop Description

In our troubled world, it is increasingly difficult to ward off anxiety and stress. We can easily feel overwhelmed and unable to move ahead with the clarity of purpose and effectiveness we all wish for.

Everyone experiences fear and worry at times, from fear of what others think of us, to fear of failure, or worry about things going wrong at home or at work. These can escalate into anxiety which intensifies our mental pain. Stress and frustration can also be our natural response when life becomes demanding and unpredictable.

Buddha’s wisdom contains an accessible and useful explanation of the underlying causes of these feelings, giving us powerful insight into how they function. Combined with meditation, we will learn how to combat negative states of mind and create a sense of mental freedom.

At this practical meditation workshop, we’ll learn how to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us. Resident Teacher and Buddhist nun Gen Kelsang Lhachog will explain how we can stay cool, calm and collected in all situations, by learning to accept painful feelings without being panicked by them.

You'll come away knowing how to:

  • differentiate between inner and outer problems
  • identify your real problem – painful feelings in your mind
  • stay calm in the face of life’s difficulties
  • reduce worry and anxiety when problems arise
  • navigate your feelings with greater insight
  • resist the impulse to get frustrated or angry when things go wrong
  • apply practical methods to eliminate stress from your daily life, and feel better even when things are tough

Everybody is welcome to attend this workshop, regardless of experience. You will receive inspiration and information on how to overcome stress & anxiety, and how to navigate the painful feelings that arise when things go wrong. You’ll be guided through a series of meditations to relax and refresh your mind, and improve its strength and stability. You’ll have the opportunity to ask all your questions on meditation and living with wisdom to an experienced teacher.

The Teacher

The teacher of this workshop is Buddhist nun Kelsang Dana. Through her joyful and loving aspect, Dana is able to communicate the essential points of meditation and Buddhism in a way that makes people feel confident, uplifted and encouraged.
