Overcoming Stress & Anxiety

Sun 10 Jul | 10am-1pm

In-Person & Online Workshop

If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind
they would not be problems for us.
- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Workshop Description

Everyone experiences fear and worry at times, from fear of what others think of us, to fear of failure, or worry about things going wrong at home or at work. These can escalate into anxiety which intensifies our mental pain. Stress and frustration can also be our natural response when life becomes demanding and unpredictable.

Buddha’s wisdom contains an accessible and useful explanation of the underlying causes of these painful feelings, giving us powerful insight into how they function. Combined with meditation, we will learn how to combat negative states of mind and create a sense of mental freedom.

At this practical meditation workshop, learn how to control your mind, rather than allowing it to control you. Buddhist nun Kelsang Dana will explain how we can stay cool, calm and collected in all situations, by learning to accept painful feelings without being panicked by them.

You'll come away knowing how to:

  • clearly identify the source of your anxiety
  • stay calm in the face of life’s difficulties
  • pacify feelings of panic and stress
  • navigate your feelings with greater insight
  • resist the impulse to get frustrated or angry when things go wrong
  • develop a wholistic long-term approach to a calmer state of being

Everybody is welcome to attend this workshop, regardless of experience. You will receive inspiration and information on how to overcome stress & anxiety, and how to navigate the painful feelings that arise when things go wrong.

In two sessions (both one and a quarter hours long) with a morning tea break, you’ll receive a teaching on Buddha’s wisdom applied to daily life, and be guided through a series of meditations to relax and strengthen your mind. You’ll have the opportunity to ask all your questions on meditation and living with wisdom to an experienced teacher.

The Teacher

The teacher of this workshop is Buddhist nun Kelsang Dana. Through her joyful and loving aspect, Dana is able to communicate the essential points of meditation and Buddhism in a way that makes people feel confident, uplifted and encouraged.
