What is pure compassion?

Compassion is the strong wish for others to be free from suffering. It is a powerful, steadfast mind that wants to do whatever we can to protect other living beings from harm or pain.

Yet so often there is nothing material we can do to help. This is the reason we need to grow our compassion until it purifies our mind completely, and brings us to the powerful state of enlightenment.
