About the Public Talk

Anxiety can make it feel as though our thoughts, emotions and circumstances have power over us, leaving us feeling overwhelmed or unable to switch off.

Explore different types of breathing meditation, along with other practical meditations and tools that help us feel calmer, think more clearly and experience greater inner freedom in daily life.

No experience with meditation or Buddhism is needed. Everyone is welcome.

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Lhachog is an Australian Buddhist nun who has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for 30 years.

Gen Lhachog is an inspiring example of Modern Buddhism in practice. She presents Buddha’s teachings with beautiful clarity, warmth and sincerity, skilfully guiding people from all walks of life to find inner peace and lasting happiness.

What to Expect

During this 90-minute public talk you’ll enjoy practical teachings, guided breathing meditations and time to quietly reflect.

You’ll leave with simple methods you can begin using straight away to help calm the mind and reduce anxious habits of thinking.

The evening is relaxed, welcoming and suitable for everyone, whether you’re completely new to meditation or have experience already.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions after the talk.

No. This talk is suitable for everyone, whether you’re completely new to meditation or have been practising for years. Everything is explained clearly, and you’ll be guided through each meditation step by step.

Will this talk help with anxiety?

Many people find that meditation helps them feel calmer, think more clearly and respond to anxious thoughts in a healthier way. During this talk you’ll learn practical breathing meditations and Buddhist wisdom that can help reduce anxiety and bring greater peace of mind.

What kind of meditation will we do?

You’ll be guided through simple breathing meditations that help settle the mind and develop a greater sense of inner calm. The meditations are gentle, practical and suitable for beginners.

What happens during the evening?

The evening includes practical teachings, and guided meditations. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.

What should I bring?

Just bring yourself. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and all seating is provided.

Will I have to sit on the floor?

No. The talk takes place on chairs, and you’re welcome to sit in whatever way feels most comfortable. If you prefer a little extra support, you’re welcome to bring a cushion.
